TURIN - Bek Juventus, Giorgio Chiellini yakin dapat membela skuad Italia dalam Euro 2012, Juni mendatang. Meski masih bergelut dengan cedera, pemain berusia 27 tahun tersebut yakin akan dapat segera pulih sebelum turnamen itu digelar.

Chiellini sebelumnya sempat diragukan untuk bisa masuk dalam daftar 23 pemain Italia untuk dibawah ke Ukraina-Polandia karena mengalami cedera paha saat membela Juventus saat mengantar kemenangan 3-1 Juventus atas Atalanta, Minggu (13/5/2012). Akibatnya, ia diperkirakan harus menepi selama 20 hari.

"Apakah cedera itu cukup berisiko sehingga aku akan tersingkir dari seleksi? Aku akan siap (tampil) tepat waktu," ungkap Chiellini seperti dilansir Football Italia.

Italia sejauh ini belum mendaftarkan skuad resminya dan daftar terakhirnya harus sudah diterima UEFA pada 29 Mei mendatang. Sebelum Euro 2012, "Gli Azzurri" akan melakoni dua laga uji coba melawan Luksemburg pada 29 Mei dan Rusia pada 1 Juni.

Di Ukraina-Polandia, Italia berada di Grup C. "La Nazionale" besutan Cesare Prandelli turun pertama kali meladeni juara bertahan Spanyol pada 10 Juni. Berikutnya, mereka akan menghadapi Kroasia dan Irlandia.

"Jika aku tidak turun dalam dua uji coba sebelum turnamen, itu baru pertimbangan bijak. Intinya, aku akan siap menghadapi Spanyol pada 10 Juni mendatang," tegas Chiellini.
